Verna Jean Shobway (Shipman, Peters), A resident of Walpole Island First Nation, died peacefully at Blue Water Health in Sarnia on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at the age of 92.
Verna is the daughter of the late Mitchell & Ella Mae (Thomas) Shipman. Beloved wife of the late Floyd Shobway (1964). Loving mother of Anita & Stewart Smith, Monarae & Richard Crum, Keith Armstrong & Carla Morris. Dear Nookmis of Vicky, Duane, Gary, Robyn Smith, Ciara Goethals, Keith Jr., Sierra Armstrong and Gram Great of B. Colin, John, Teagen, Teya, Logan, Greyson, and Griffin Smith. Sister of Karen Blackbird. Predeceased by Caroline Shipman, Leona Joseph, Eleanore Shognosh, Velma Dodge and Lenore James. Extended family Sharon & Joseph Gilbert, Cynthia Williams, Chet and Cheryl Armstrong.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg. Family night will be Friday. Community on Saturday. Wake service at 8 PM on Saturday. The funeral will be celebrated at the Evangelistic Centre, Dan Shab Road on Walpole Island, on Sunday, June 21 at 2 PM. Cremation to follow.
