Update: Charges laid in Hwy. 40 tanker rollover

Charges have been laid after a tanker rollover on Highway 40 near Sarnia.

On Monday July 20, 2015, at approximately 8:00 a.m., Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single motor vehicle rollover collision involving a commercial motor vehicle on 40 Highway, City of Sarnia.

Lambton County OPP along with Sarnia Fire Department, Ministry of Environment (MOE), Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO), Community Awareness and Emergency Response (CAER) and Sarnia Police Service responded to an area on 40 Highway just south of Plank Road, City of Sarnia.

A commercial motor vehicle, towing dual tanker trailers, was northbound on 40 Highway.

As the vehicle was traveling on the highway, the rear tanker trailer jack-knifed, separated from the first tanker trailer and rolled onto its side spilling a small amount of diesel fuel.

No injuries were reported as a result of the collision.

40 Highway between Plank Road and McGregor Side Road will be closed for approximately 4 hours while crews work to clear the highway.

The driver of the commercial motor vehicle, a 45 year-old Brantford man was charged for Careless Driving.
