Management at a local music shop, who has been targeted by thieves in recent months, believe the criminals responsible know exactly what they’re looking for.
We reported that Frank’s Music Centre on King Street West in Chatham had been broken into sometime overnight on Tuesday, and a $4,000 ES-390 Gibson Memphis Electric Guitar had been swiped.
In fact, it has been discovered that more was taken from the shop.
Mark Giles, the manager at Frank’s, said a Taylor 814 guitar valued at $5,000 was also taken this week.
“Very specific items,” said Giles, who is originally from Wallaceburg. “They for sure know what they’re coming to get.”
Giles said this is the third time they have been broken into within the last couple of months.
“$20,000 in theft in total,” Giles said. “Happens around 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. This time our alarm never went off until the cops came in later on, after someone called about the broken window. The cops tripped the alarm but the robbers didn’t.”
