A highlight for many people who come to WAMBO year after year, are the cars lined up in downtown Wallaceburg.

Local resident Matt Thomas has been organizing the cars for the last nine years.

“There is hundreds of cars. It does take a fair bit of planning. To get the registrations all made up and mailing out. To put everything in the computer for the registrations and organizing the cars where they are going to go and the awards,” he said.

“So far there is about 40 pre registered. I just sent the registration forms out though and they are coming in every day. We usually get around 150-200 cars.”

Thomas said if someone didn’t get a registration form and wants to register, they can get one on our website or they can show up the day of the show and just enter then and still take part in the whole show.

Thomas said there is first and second place for the original and modified part of WAMBO, with registration cutting off at 1980.

“There is first and second place for every one of those years for original and modified. So pretty much for every ten years there is four awards,” he said.

“We also have the iCars class which is the newer vehicles. We did add a race car class for iCars as well, so I’m hoping to get some race cars to show up. So we don’t really put and age restriction on any of the cars. We say if you have a nice car, bring it out and show it off. That includes the parade.”

Thomas said for the parade people can just show up at the Canadian Tire parking lot and register their car.

“There is one award for the cruise night as well. It is the Terry Glover Memorial Cruise. they just show up anywhere between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. and they can register. The registration is free. We usually get about 150-200 cars just for that.”
