Man charged after a bicycle was stolen

Shortly after 8:00 p.m. last night an officer on general observed the man known to him riding a blue and black Reebok Oregon mountain bike on Duncan Street in Wallaceburg.

The officer spoke with the man and made note of the serial number of the bike.

Around 9:30 p.m. the officer was flagged down by a resident who reported that his blue and black Reebok Oregon bike with the exact same serial number had been stolen from James Street.

Officers located the man in Chatham on Park Street with the stolen bike in the trunk of a car.

A 33-year-old man of St. George Street in Chatham was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5,000.

He was released pending a future court date of August 25, 2015.
