A Walpole Island man, charged with attempted murder, is set to be back in court in October.

Taylor Ermatinger, 21, will appear in court on Oct. 9 in Chatham, for a continuation of a preliminary hearing.

Time had been set aside on August 24 and 25 for the hearing, but the extra date has been scheduled.

Ermatinger is facing the charge stemming from an altercation at Sam’s Hotel in Wallaceburg on May 20, 2014.

Chatham-Kent police officials said officers arrived at the Dufferin Avenue location just before 12:30 a.m. responding to a fight between two men known to each other.

Ermatinger, had originally been denied bail in the Ontario Court of Justice on June 4 last year.

However, a bail review was requested.

A Superior Court Justice overturned the decision and granted Ermatinger a release on a recognizance on July 21 last year, which includes a long list of conditions.

A publication ban remains in place on the evidence discussed in court.

It cannot be reported on until the case is completed.
