Transports involved in serious crash on 402

On September 10, 2015 at approximately 8:15 a.m. members of The Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended the #402 Highway at Christina Street within the City of Sarnia to investigate a collision involving three transport trucks.

Due to the severity of the collision the OPP was forced to close the #402 Highway at Christina Street in order to ensure the safety of the involved drivers, witnesses and emergency personnel. Traffic has been diverted to Christina Street.

One of the transport truck drivers had to be extracted from the cab of his truck. Two of the transport truck drivers were transported by land to Hospital. Air ambulance did attend the scene but was not utilized. At this time the extent of the injuries are unknown. One of the male drivers, 33 years-of-age is an Ontario resident and has suffered minor injuries. A second male, the extracted driver and an American resident, 52 years-of-age, remains in critical condition.

It is estimated that the #402 Highway will be closed until 4:00 p.m. in relation to the investigation and subsequent clean- up.

The OPP is requesting that the affected diverted traffic be cognizant of all traffic laws and by- laws when being diverted through the Village of Point Edward and or the City of Sarnia.
