Community Living Wallaceburg employees and people supported by the Agency are hosting their second annual food drive in support of the Salvation Army Food Bank.
Volunteers are looking to ‘stuff’ a trailer with food items in time for Thanksgiving by collecting donations on Saturday, October 10th at Chris’ No Frills in Wallaceburg from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
A charity BBQ will also be held, with the option of making a monetary or non-perishable food donation in exchange for a hot dog and pop.
“The Salvation Army provides many valuable services to Wallaceburg residents, and there is a tremendous need for its food bank, in particular,” said Stephanie Flamenco, event coordinator for Community Living Wallaceburg. “As one of Wallaceburg’s largest employers, this is an opportunity for Community Living Wallaceburg to give back to the community and to assist our friends and neighbours who need the support of the Salvation Army and its food bank.”
While all non-perishable food items are welcome, the following items are in greatest need: pantry items including sugar and flour, canned meats, cereals, oatmeal, dry pasta, pasta sauce, canned soups, baby food and toiletries.
If people want to participate but cannot attend the Food Drive on Saturday, arrangements for item pick-up can also be made.
