The Knights of Pythias will be paying tribute to veterans in Wallaceburg on Sunday, with a special ham dinner.
The K of P will donate proceeds from the dinner to the Veterans and Families Support Group.
“Their main goal is help vets and spouses fight for pensions as well obtain funding through Veteran Affairs for families of vets to mark the graves of fallen vets and cover burial expense in some cases,” said Jerry Blake, member of the K of P. “Rob Simpson is president of the group. We at the K of P are having this dinner to honour the vets and all proceeds will be donated to the program.”
Blake said the main reason for the dinner is to help the group in the task of marking or providing markers for the unmarked graves of servicemen and women.
“They also provide a support group to educate each other and the public on how to deal with post traumatic stress syndrome,” Blake said.
The dinner will be held Sunday, Oct. 4 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Cost is $10 for adults and and $5 for children under $10.
Take out orders are available and vets eat free with proof of service.
The meal consists of ham, potatoes, vegetables and dessert.
