Are there any young adults out there with an interest in agriculture and their community?

Well, they are being encouraged to visit the Thamesville Corn Maze, located at 12768 Longwoods Road (Hwy. 2) on Friday, October 16 at 7:30 p.m. to learn about the Junior Farmers program.

Cost is $10 per person.

What is Junior Farmers?

Junior Farmers of Ontario provides opportunities for young adults ages 15-29.

Members tend to be rural youth but, contrary to the name, many are not farmers.

Members come from all walks of life, occupations and backgrounds.

Members form a local club and participate in a variety of fun activities in their home communities and with other members from across the province.

We compete in sports and cultural events, fundraise for charities, take road trips to community centres around the corner or hours from home for dances, travel abroad, host international delegates and much more.

JFAO’s mission is “To Build Future Rural Leaders Through Self Help and Community Betterment.”

The Junior Farmers in Chatham-Kent are in the process of reviving the club in the community and are currently looking for more members to form a club.

For questions regarding this event, club membership or if you would like to learn more about Junior Farmers, contact Brian Sterling at 519-917-1798, brian_farmboy@hotmail.com or check out the website www.jfao.on.ca.
