This is a warning to all dog owners from DMS Veterinary Group.
On October 4th, DMS went to an emergency call because a dog was in severe respiratory distress.
X-rays were taken to confirm the foreign object and DMS staff sedated the dog to remove the rawhide. Unfortunately by the time the dog came in, it was too late.
#1 –Â This is what the rawhide bone looked like before it was chewed by the dog.
#2 –Â This is the same rawhide bone completely chewed into a small slimy chunk,just small enough to easily slip down a dog’s throat.
#3 – The X-ray of the dog with the rawhide chunk stuck deep in the esophagus (food pipe).
The owners agreed to share this very unfortunate incident so that it doesn’t happen to anyone else’s dog.
Please do not give your dog rawhide bones of any kind to chew on!
