The Chatham-Kent Public Library is seeking community input to help develop its five-year strategic plan.

The public is invited to attend one of several Community Open Houses to meet with library trustees, managers and staff to discuss library services they’d like to see offered in the next five years. The library will also be conducting an online survey for users and non-users of the library to provide input.

Chatham-Kent Public Library enjoys strong ties with the communities it serves and would like to gather the valued opinions of community members to help guide the future of library service in Chatham-Kent. Community Open House discussions will start with a series of questions based on feedback staff will gather in early October. Discussions will start with the question, “What three words would you use to describe what libraries mean to you?”

Chatham-Kent Public Library has served the community since 1998 when it was created through the amalgamation of the Kent County Public Library and the Chatham Public Library. It has provided a wonderful legacy of service. Now it’s time to decide what exciting changes are in store that will ensure the library’s relevance and sustainability into the future.

Community Open Houses:

– Wallaceburg Branch Thursday, October 22 – 6:00 to 8:00 pm

– Ridgetown Branch Thursday, November 12 – 6:00 to 8:00 pm

– Tilbury Branch Thursday, November 26 – 6:00 to 8:00 pm

– Thamesville Branch Wednesday, December 2 – 4:00 to 6:00 pm

– Chatham Branch Monday, December 7 – 2:00 to 4:00 pm

Have your say. The library is encouraging community participation to achieve the vision of what the public library will look like in five years.
