John Stanley Piacek age 81 of Dresden, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Chatham Kent Health Alliance Sydenham Campus, Wallaceburg. He was born in Chatham Twp. son of the late Stanley and Anna (Smalinsky) Piacek.
John was a founding member and past president of the Canadian Czechoslovakian Friendship Club, former member of Dresden Kinsmen Club and K-40 and former legion member of Royal Canadian Legion Br. 113 Dresden.
He is survived by his loving wife Shirley (Matlovich) Piacek, daughter Patti Irwin of Dresden, son Ric and Sue Piacek of Dresden and five grandchildren: Nicholas, Bradley and Kristi, Mike and Amanda Irwin, Sarah and Steph Hebert and Craig Piacek and six great granddaughters. Predeceased by granddaughter Tricia Piacek, son in-law Robert Irwin and great grandson Hunter Irwin, his parents Stanley and Anna Piacek, sister Stephanie and brother in-law John Samek, brother Stanley and sister in-law Rose. Cremation has taken place at Resurrection Cemetery and Crematorium Sarnia.
A Celebration of Life will take place at the Dresden Legion, on Sunday, October 18 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. If desired memorial contributions may be made to Dresden Community Health Care Foundation by cheque and left at the funeral home.
