Drug charges laid after traffic stop

On October 14, 2015, just before 1:00 p.m., a Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Impala for a speeding violation on Dufferin Avenue, Wallaceburg.

During subsequent OPP traffic investigation, the driver was found to be in possession of a small quantity of suspected marijuana. Further investigation also revealed that the driver’s licence was suspended.

As a result, the male driver, a 48 year old man from Wallaceburg, has been charged with Possession of Marijuana, under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, Speeding, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and Driving While Under Suspension, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

He is scheduled to appear in a Chatham court at a later date to answer to the charges.
