The cause is undetermined, after an abandoned farm house on Stewart Line went up in flames on Saturday night.

Ric Scharf, assistant chief, said fire crews attended the scene just outside of Wallaceburg at 9:30 p.m.

“This was an abandoned small farm house in very poor structural condition,” Scharf said. “No injuries or casualties at this time. Firefighters from three stations numbering 14 fought to bring fire under control and stop any potential exposure fires to surrounding vegetation.”

Scharf said there was no evidence of wrongdoing at this time and the cause remains undetermined.

Firefighters “fought the fire so that vegetation surrounding the area would not ignite causing wildfires,” Scharf said.

Firefighters from Wallaceburg, Chatham and Tupperville battled the blaze.
