Wallaceburg Novice Reps battle hard in weekend losses

The Wallaceburg Lakers Novice Rep Squad had a busy weekend. They were unable to pull off a win but it wasn’t due to lack of effort.

Saturday, Oct. 17

The South Huron Sabres marched into Wallaceburg’s barn and faced a determined team on Saturday.

Wallaceburg’s Novice Rep Team battled hard but was unable to come out on top.

Adam Trella recorded another hat trick and Arionna Hopkins earned an assist in the exciting 4-3 loss.

Hunter Jacobs walked away with the player of the game award after a valiant effort.

The Lakers were caught flat footed several times through the first two periods and relied heavily on goaltender Brock Lane.

Wallaceburg was able to turn things around in the third but ran out of time before they could tie it up.

Sunday, Oct. 18

The Wallaceburg Novice Rep Lakers traveled to snowy Forest Ontario to face the Lambton Shore Predators for their second meeting of the year.

Wallaceburg’s team started the game very strong controlling most of the play through the first two periods.

Adam Trella’s two unassisted goals had the Lakers and the Predators tied 2-2 heading into the third.

Brock Lane stood on his head with highlight reel saves and continued to frustrate Lambton Shore’s big guns.

However in the end Wallaceburg was unable to overcome a strong home team and stronger home refs as Lambton Shores pulled off a 5-2 win.

Logan Cornish earned player of the game for creating time and space every chance he had.

The Novice Rep Lakers will Travel to Tillsonburg next weekend for their first tournament of the year.

The coaching staff is confident that the experience the young team has gained this season has prepared them well for a sure to be exciting weekend.
