Heavy rain and gusty winds expected

Sudden strong wind gusts and heavy showers with a sharp cold front are expected this morning, as Environment Canada issues a special weather statement for Chatham-Kent.

A cold front over Lower Michigan will reach the border in the Windsor to Sarnia areas near 8 AM and then race eastward to reach a line from Barrie south through Toronto to Niagara by noon.

Wind gusts near 80 km/h may accompany a line of heavy showers as this sharp cold front blasts through this morning.

These winds may be strong enough to cause minor tree damage especially in areas where trees remain in partial leaf. Motorists should be prepared for sudden strong and gusty winds resulting in difficult driving conditions.
