The Wallaceburg Remembrance Day ceremony is changing locations this year.

After taking place for years at the UAW Hall, the service is shifting to Wallaceburg District Secondary School before marching to the cenotaph.

“We’ve got the service taking place at the high school,” said Mike Hindmarsh, president of the Wallaceburg Legion Br. 18. “Family wreaths and business wreaths will be laid there, we’ll then be marching down to the cenotaph for the formal military service, starting at 11 a.m.”

The ceremony starts in the Wallaceburg District Secondary School auditorium at 9:15 a.m. People will then parade over to the cenotaph starting at 10:25 a.m.

Hindmarsh said they will be led by a piper and the Legion Honour Guard.

In terms of traffic and lane closure, the procession will be starting at WDSS on Lorne Avenue and proceed south to Elgin Street, east to Lisgar Street, south to the cenotaph at the corner of Dufferin Avenue and Lisgar Street for service.

Municipal officials say all lanes will be temporarily closed for the procession.

Minor delays are expected from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
