A Wallaceburg teen is in London hospital following a single-vehicle crash between Wallaceburg and Dresden on Saturday night.
Brayden Fields, 17, suffered life-threatening injuries when the van he was driving went off the road and struck a tree at 7875 McCreary Line (Hwy. 78.)
Brayden’s mother Julie Fields said positive thoughts and prayers are needed.
“Things are changing a lot with the concern with his brain swelling,” she said.
“It is a huge concern but he definitely has multiple fractures and will be laid up for quite some time. We are just hoping that he doesn’t have any deficits from the brain hit.”
Chatham-Kent police officials say at approximately 10:30 pm, Saturday night, officers responded to the single motor vehicle collision
Police say the vehicle on location, after losing control, had struck a tree while being operated by a lone male occupant.
The Chatham-Kent Police Traffic Management Unit was called out to investigate.
The driver, after being extricated from the vehicle, was transported from the scene to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance – Sydenham Campus hospital, where he was later transferred to London having suffered serious injuries.
A section of McCreary Line had been closed, but has since re-opened.
The Traffic Unit is continuing the investigation.
