Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are reminding drivers that, if it is necessary travel today, ensure that the full lighting system on their vehicle is activated before heading out on the roadways in the dense fog conditions that we are currently experiencing.
There have been several reports of vehicles on the roadways that do not have the tail lights on, and are very difficult to see when approaching from the rear.
The running lights on vehicles only activate the headlights, but not the tail lights.
The driver must physically turn the lights on from inside the vehicle for all of the lights to be on.
In addition to ensuring that your full lighting system is activated, the Chatham-Kent OPP also urges motorists to stay focused on the road and drive according to the weather conditions.
Although there may be areas that appear clearer, you may suddenly re-enter thick fog conditions.
Let’s drive safely and responsibly to keep the roads safe for all users.
