This morning, Mark Smith of Dresden was recognized with a CKPS Board Citation for his support and development of the CKPS outdoor range.
Mark, a former Police Officer in the United States and now local business man in the Dresden community, was immediately interested in supporting the local Police Service.
Mark immediately went to work and began to modify his property on Irish School Road to become a fully functional outdoor Police Firing Range.
The modifications included providing gravel to create a clean, direct route throughout his property for members using the range, the building of a berm for the perimeter of the firing range with the addition of clean fill, snow removal and plowing, grass cutting and any other maintenance necessary to keep the range in good working order. All of which has been completed on his own time with the use of his own equipment with no thought for reimbursement.
Further to this, Mark has been a strong and continuous supporter of the Police Service with local residents.
This unwavering support continues to this day.
The support and use of his property has allowed our Police Service to participate in a high level of training, in a location that is conducive to various training scenarios, which would otherwise be challenging in an indoor range or smaller area.
The CKPS thanked Mark for his continued support of our professional development at the Police Firing Range.
