It wasn’t the result Seth Griffith and the Boston Bruins were looking for on New Year’s Day during the NHL’s annual outdoor Winter Classic.

Despite playing in front of 67,000 plus fans at Gillette Stadium, it was the Montreal Canadiens walking away with a 5-1 win.

Skating on the first line for the Bruins, Griffith finished with a minus three rating in 10:59 minutes of ice time, 3:42 of that on the powerplay.

He was held without a point and did not record a shot on goal.

Griffith has one assist so far in two games this with Boston, after being called up from the AHL earlier this week.

The Bruins remain in sixth place in the Eastern Conference, with a 20-13-4 record.

Boston will be back in action on Tuesday when they host the Capitals.
