Today, Lambton—Kent—Middlesex MPP Monte McNaughton wrapped up a two-day mini-tour of small-and family-owned businesses throughout the riding.

“For me it’s vitally important to get out and meet with people throughout Lambton-Kent-Middlesex, to see and hear first hand about what is working, what needs improvement, and importantly where the Government of Ontario can do better,” said McNaughton. “Over the past couple days, I’ve met with dozens of job creators all across our riding and have benefited greatly from the knowledge and experiences that they have shared.”

On his tour, McNaughton visited and consulted with small-businesses in Newbury, Mt. Brydges, Forest, London, Ilderton, Strathroy, Watford, Alvinston and Wallaceburg.

As part of the tour, McNaughton met with local car dealers and others who expressed concerns about unnecessary government red tape and interference, Kathleen Wynne’s pending ORPP, and Ontario’s failed Drive Clean program.

“Nearly 90% of Ontario’s employment is related to small- and medium-sized businesses while the overall contributions by small-and medium-sized businesses equal about 1/3 of Ontario’s annual GDP,” said McNaughton. “In total, small-and medium-sized businesses employ nearly 10 million people across Ontario. The significance of these jobs cannot be overstated.”

Ontario’s new car dealers employ over 49,000 people, while generating $29 billion/year in retail sales.

McNaughton visited five new car dealers as part of his tour including Mt. Brydges Ford Sales (Mt. Brydges), Progressive Ford (Wallaceburg), Dale Wurfel Chrysler Dodge Jeep (Strathroy), Grogan Ford Lincoln (Watford) and Bluewater Ford Sales (Forest).

“Successful small businesses rely on top-notch customer service, but as I heard over the past couple days, there remains a lot of work to be done in order to better support and grow our small- and medium-sized businesses across Ontario,” McNaughton stated. “I welcome opportunities to visit businesses throughout Lambton-Kent-Middlesex. Please contact my office if you would like to invite me to tour your business or organization.”
