Chatham-Kent Recreation is inviting residents to celebrate the return of summer ice at Thames Campus Arena with a free community skating event later this month.
The Community Ice Celebration will take place July 24 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Thames Campus Arena, 999 Grand Ave. W. Organizers say it marks the first time in nearly 15 years that ice has been available at the arena during the summer.
The drop-in event will feature free public skating, music on the ice, a summer recreation activity zone and a best dressed costume contest. Participants are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite character, princess, superhero or athlete.
CK Recreation says the event is open to the community and encourages residents to bring friends, neighbours and family members to celebrate the start of the summer season.
