The Ontario Fire Marshall and the Chatham-Kent Police Service are investigating after a fatal fire Wednesday night outside of Wallaceburg.
Police officials say last night around 9:40 p.m. emergency crews responded to a residence fully engulfed by fire on Pond Road.
A 94-year-old woman was located in the home.
She was transported to Sydenham District Hospital where life saving measures were unsuccessful.
The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshall has been notified and will be assisting with the investigation.
