The Chatham-Kent OPP is urging motorists to drive with extreme caution today (Sunday, Jan. 10) as the environmental and road conditions continue to deteriorate across the Municipality.

OPP officers are responding to a collision involving a jackknifed tractor trailer in the eastbound lanes approximately three kilometres east of Queens Line.

The collision is partially blocking eastbound traffic, however traffic is getting by at this time. We ask the public to be cautious as Emergency crews are currently at the scene of this collision.

It is anticipated that the tractor trailer will be removed from the roadway soon.

Chatham-Kent OPP is responding to several vehicles in the ditch on Highway 401.

Due to the snow and blowing snow, Highway 401 is experiencing poor visibility with white-out conditions, and the roadways are very slippery.

Chatham-Kent OPP is urging the public to avoid travel, if possible.

If travel is necessary, Chatham-Kent OPP would like to caution drivers to slow down and leave lots of extra space between you and other vehicles.

Adjust your speed to match the road conditions.

Ensure that your vehicle’s full lighting system is turned on.

We ask the public to be cautious as Emergency crews will be on the highways assisting motorists throughout the day.
