The new sports field in Dresden is set to be named after a former Dresden educator and community leader.

On Tuesday, January 12 the Lambton-Kent District School Board unanimously supported a motion brought forth by Lambton-Kent Composite School, where the newly constructed main playing field of the Lambton-Kent Community Sports Field, will forever be referred to as the ‘Wilson Pitch’ in honour of Ewan Wilson.

Wilson began his career at LKCS in 1967, the first year of the school’s history.

He went on to teach 10 years in the LKCS science department, and later returned as principal from 1987 to 1992.

Wilson met his wife Beth at LKCS, planting roots in the Dresden community.

Their three sons – Andrew, Geoff and Scott – all became graduates of LKCS.

Wilson also was instrumental in starting Dresden Minor Soccer, an association that still welcomes youth aged 4-13 to play recreational soccer at LKCS for a nominal fee.
