Razor, crowbar, and lighter used in assault

Yesterday morning, police received information that the man had assaulted his girlfriend while at a residence in Chatham on Sunday, February 21, 2016.

During the altercation, the man allegedly cut the woman with a razor, assaulted her with a crowbar and burned her with a lighter.

The woman was treated at a local hospital for her injuries.

Through investigation, police learned that this was not the first incident of domestic violence between the couple.

Around noon yesterday, police located the man and he was arrested.

The 33-year-old Chatham man has been charged with assault with a weapon x3, aggravated assault, uttering threats, assault causing bodily harm and assault.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
