Both the Atom and Peewee girls teams participated in the 35th annual Walter Gretzky Tournament in Brantford this past weekend and both teams played great hockey.

The Atom girls saw themselves advance to the semi-final game against St.Thomas. The girls played hard, but came up short with the final score being 2-1 for St. Thomas.

The Peewee girls advanced to the championship game after remaining undefeated, and not allowing any goals scored against them in their first three games.

The championship game saw them face Grey Highlands Shooting Stars. It was a nail biter of a game with no score after three periods of play. They began a 5:00 3-on-3 OT and Wallaceburg scored with 1:58 remaining to bring home the gold.

Both of these teams have had fantastic seasons with the Atom team winning their division in the regular season, and the Peewee team finishing second in their division.

Both teams are currently in playoffs for their leagues, as well as playdowns where they are trying to earn a spot in the Provincial Championships.

The Atoms next game is Saturday, February 27th at 11:40 a.m. in Wallaceburg, and the Peewee girls will play Friday, February 26th at 8:20 p.m., also in Wallaceburg.
