A Wallaceburg swimmer had the opportunity to snap a photo on Friday with the most-decorated Olympian of all-time.

Madison Broad captured a moment with American swimmer Michael Phelps, as both swimmers are competing in the Grand Prix in Orlando, Florida.

“Phelps! Thanks for the selfie at the Grand Prix in Orlando Florida,” Broad wrote on Instagram.

The 15-year-old Chatham Y Pool Shark swimmer had the chance to speak with Phelps, who has won 22 Olympic medals including 18 gold, and with another Olympic swimmer, four-time Olympic medalist Missy Franklin, also from the U.S.

Broad is lighting it up in the water at the meet as well.

On Friday night, Broad finished first in the ‘B’ finals of the 100 metre backstroke, placing 9th overall.

She had a new personal best time with 1:01.97. If she had been in the ‘A’ final, her time would have placed her in 6th place overall (see graphic).

Broad will be heading to the Olympic time trials in Scarborough next month.
