Easter gifts delivered to Wallaceburg seniors

From holiday to holiday, a Wallaceburg woman is busy keeping traditions alive by giving back to the community.

Ila Little has been saving her money all year to purchase gifts to ensure everyone in the nursing homes in Wallaceburg has an Easter present.

“We go to Fairfield Park, Sydenham Residence and the Wallaceburg hospital if there are patients there,” said Heather Little-Blake, Ila’s daughter.

“She does it because she has been out there and some elders sit there on holidays and when people walk in they get excited, but then it’s not for them, they cry because they have no visitors. Mom makes sure no one is lonely at Easter and they all get a gift. A flower vase or ornament or stuffed bunny. Mom saves her change all year and then hits the thrift stores for vases and stuffed animals and flowers at the dollar store.”

Heather said her mother, and her team of volunteers, has done this for the past three years on Good Friday.

“Mom is very quiet about all she does,” Heather added.

“She’s a very humble lady, with a huge heart.”

The Sydenham Current published a story around Christmas time, talking about the many contributions from Ila. Read that story here: No ‘Little’ contributions from Wallaceburg woman

Here are some more photos of Ila and her volunteers preparing the Easter gifts, and delivering them:
