Chatham-Kent Tree Care is ready for spring

Chatham-Kent Tree Care is ready for the spring season, and they want their customers – and future clients – to be prepared as well.

Greg Pilecki, owner and operator of Chatham-Kent Tree Care, says spring is an ideal time to do some trimming.

“The trees will have leaves soon and that brings trees closer to buildings and closer to electrical hazards,” Pilecki said.

“It’s a good idea to get your trees maintained. Not only for the visual aesthetics, but for safety from the buildings so that roofs can breathe. When roofs get wet they need to be able to dry. Sometimes roofs can rot away if the tree is too close and if it doesn’t allow the sun to soak up that moisture.”

Pilecki said something they have started getting heavily into is driftwood removal.

“We have the equipment and the accessibility in the springtime,” he said.

“A lot of driftwood has come up over the winter or the thaw and it washed up on some of the beaches and embankments and people’s boat docks and it is causing damage. A lot of people don’t have a way or can’t figure out how to get such large trees away from the docks. So we offer that service now.”

Tree removal is a last result, but it is still a necessary service in certain situations, Pilecki said.

“Cost is by the job. You never know what you walk into. I could have electrical hazards, I could have a hour of setup time, so every job is different. We like to walk in and give a fair assessment, work with the client to draw a picture so that we are clear on both sides and everybody is on the same page. Then we go from there.”

Pilecki said all quotes are free.

“We aim huge for customer service,” he said.

“We were built on integrity and excellent customer service and so free quotes are provided as a way for people to meet and greet, and get the feel of the contractor and not have to be obligated to money in any way.”

Pilecki said Chatham-Kent Tree Care does do some yard maintenance as well.

“We don’t do any lawn mowing by any means, but if there is some junk or a yard needs to be cleaned up from leaves or eavestroughs. We also have a 61-foot mobile lift service, so we could take down an old antenna or do stuff that could be used by that 61-foot boom.”

Having your tree assessed in the spring is always a good idea as well.

“Especially if it’s a hazard tree or you feel uncomfortable with your tree,” he said.

“It is good to have a licensed arborist give a hazard assessment on the tree.

Deadwood removal is another good task to complete in the spring.

“To take the dead wood away is aesthetically pleasing but also dead wood poses a hazard. Your children play under there, you park your cars under there, buildings are under there and they can release at anytime and cause a significant amount of damage. So it is a good idea to have your trees maintained and so we like to provide a good maintenance package for our clients.”

Overall, Pilecki wants the community to know that Chatham-Kent Tree Care is a local company that is moving forward.

“We are staying up to date with the industry work practises and the Ministry compliance,” he said.

“It is nice to know that when people hire a contractor like CK Tree Care, that they are getting somebody that is compliant with MOL. We are moving in the right direction to be able to provide more quality service for our clients. My theory is the more we evolve as a crew, the more we evolve with a good foundation.”
