Red Devils drop home opener to Windsor

Fans packed the Wallaceburg Memorial Arena to watch the young and exciting Wallaceburg Red Devils square-off against the visiting Windsor Clippers on Sunday afternoon.

Despite losing 14-6, Justin Durston, the head coach of the team, said the Red Devils showed their talent.

“We had moments that were good, but also moments that were bad,” he said.

“Missed assignments, some guys just didn’t do their job and that was a big killer for us.”

Eric Shepley faced 54 shots and saved 41 of them. Shepley also picked up an assist.

Parker Gilhuly netted two goals and two helpers for four points, while Corey Lucier and Evan Mathany both found twine once and picked up three assists for four points.

Carter Hastings recorded one goal and two assists for three points.

“Those guys are relied on to score and are leaders on this team and they are important pieces to this puzzle,” Durston said.

The Wallaceburg Red Devils will host Guelph on Saturday, April 30 in their next game.
