Two charged following Chatham drug bust

Two people face charges following a drug bust in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police officials say last night, members of the Chatham-Kent Police Intelligence Section, with the assistance of the Critical Incident Response Team, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrant at a residence on West Street.

Fentanyl residue, small amount of hydromorphone, packaging material and a digital scale were all seized.

Officers also recovered a stolen mountain bike inside the residence.

A 28-year-old man and 26-year-old woman, both from Chatham, were arrested and charged with two counts of drug possession and possession of property obtained by a crime under $5000.

The woman was released pending a future court date of May 12, 2016.

The man was additionally charged with three counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

Through investigation, officers further learned that the man was also wanted on a surety relief warrant.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.
