The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a multi vehicle motor vehicle collision at approximately 2:30 p.m. on April 27, 2016 in Essex.
The crash occurred on Highway 3 just east of Essex County Road 23 (Arner Town Line) and involved 5 vehicles.
Essex Fire and Rescue Services as well as Essex Windsor Emergency Medical Service (EMS) responded as well.
One person has been confirmed deceased and six others were taken to area hospitals with varying degrees of injury.
None of those injuries are considered life-threatening.
The name of the deceased is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation (TTCI) team is currently on scene investigating the cause of the crash.
Highway 3 between Essex County Road 23 and Cameron Side road is expected to remain closed for the next several hours while the investigation takes place.
