Literacy brought to life in Wallaceburg

It was a full-day of literacy, arts and entertainment in Wallaceburg on Monday.

Jointly sponsored by the Susan Talach Book Fund, the Chatham-Kent Public Library and A.A. Wright Public School, a Governor General award winner and Juno nominee visited the community.

“Wallace Edwards and Gary Rasberry brought literacy to life through the arts at A.A. Wright,” said Ben Hazzard, principal at the school.

“Each student was encouraged to bring new ideas to their creativity by Wallace Edwards. As he said, it all starts with a line. Gary Rasberry told stories with music as each child sang along.”

Hazzard said the day was made possible by the Sue Talach Book Fund.

“This committee has continued to provide rich literacy experiences for A.A. Wright students and the Wallaceburg community,” he said.

Hazzard said the evening performance at Sydenham Residence brought generations together for an evening of art, stories, and song.

“Over 70 people attended the event which featured Wallace Edwards and Gary Rasberry performing,” he said.
