Do you know where you’re going?

From The Pastor’s Pen – By Brian Horrobin

Several years ago I attended a special leadership luncheon.

The speaker, Dr. Mark Barclay, shared a concept that really stuck with me.

He said, “If you don’t know where you’re going, no one will go there with you.”

There have been many good leaders that have come and gone but in my opinion, there is one who stands out above them all: Jesus Christ.

He knew where He was going, all the way to the cruel cross of Calvary, yet even that unseemly road sparked the respect and devotion of His followers.

That rag tag band of fishermen, shepherds, and even a despised tax collector wanted, even needed, someone who would lead them.

His leadership amongst those 12 men for the three years that He had with them was the proving ground of their eventual leadership to the early Church.

Eventually, they knew where they were going and many went there with them, right up to this present day.

Let me ask you something?

Do you know where you are going?

Whether you realize it, or not, you are a leader.

Someone, somewhere is following you.

It may be your child, an employee, or the kid across the street, but you are leading someone.

Since that is true, it is important that you consider the impact you are making on those who are watching and following you.

Making unwise or selfish choices will have an adverse influence on others.

You may think this is not your problem but if we really care about the welfare of others, then we should pay greater attention to how we live our lives.

Today is a new day.

A vast assortment of choices lays before you.

What you do can make a big difference.

Ask God to help you make good choices today.

Your life, and the lives of others, depends on it!
