It was quite the catch last month (Sunday, May 23) for a nine-year-old Wallaceburg boy.
Fishing off of his grandma and grandpa’s (Roberta Sands and Mark Stokes’) dock on Nelson Street, Gary Gunby hauled in a massive sheepshead from the depths of the Sydenham River.
After bringing the fish to shore, and putting it on the scales, the fish weighed in at a whopping 13.5 lbs.
What was Gary’s secret to success in terms of bait and gear? A youth fishing pole, a worm and a bobber.
Gary’s mom Mandy said the fish was released, after a brief photoshoot, and swam away afterward.
