The Board of Trustees for the St. Clair Catholic District School Board has approved the budget for the 2016-2017 school year.
It includes total revenues of $108,579,726 and total expenses of $107,500,720.
“I want to express the thanks of the Trustees to Associate Director Jim McKenzie and his team for delivering a budget that is compliant with all ministry accountability and reporting requirements and which supports the strategic priorities of the Board,” stated John Van Heck, Chair of the Board.
The budget also includes a $1.1 million surplus, which will be set aside for future post retirement payments, as required by the Ministry of Education.
“Our budget has required adjustments, mainly due to increased costs associated with provincially negotiated contracts,” says Associate Director and Treasurer Jim McKenzie.
“However, these adjustments do not significantly impact any one department or school and protect the core priorities of our strategic plan.”
The approved budget will now be presented to the Ministry of Education.
