The Canada Day festivities in Wallaceburg will feature an assortment of food options, there will once again be a shuttle this year and the committee has some advice for dog owners as well.

Food

Tom Cogghe, a committee member with the Wallaceburg Fireworks Family Festival, said a bunch of chip trucks will be on hand and there is going to be lots of food available.

“Lots of refreshments in case you get hot,” Tom said.

“Julio Cedeño has a truck that he runs in Sarnia and he is bringing it to Wallaceburg. Elijah’s Fish and Chips from Walpole Island is coming. We also have Tropical Chill coming this year with their shaved ice. We have the basketball team selling fruit so that is a healthy alternative.

Tom added: “Sweet Eats and Treats. They do kettle corn and drinks. They come every year. Sweet Tree… they are from Walpole as well. They do lemonade and seven different drinks that they do. They come every year as well.”

Shuttle

Tom said the shuttle pick up is at the mall in front of the old Sobey’s.

“It is just constant,” he said.

“It is constant so how ever long it takes. Maybe every 20 minutes. There is one shuttle going back and forth. It’s is going to drop people off at the UAW Hall and will be going all night, including after the fireworks.”

Dogs

Tom said the committee recommends that dog owners leave their pets at home.

“We recommend that people be aware that the amount of people that are going to be there,” he said.

“A lot of kids. We have Zoo2You, which is exotic animals so we want to make sure there is not interference with that. Also obviously with the fireworks. Just the common sense that dogs have a lot more sensitive hearing than people so keep that in mind. Especially on a hot day too.”
