A mainstay in the local music scene, Face 4 Radio is bringing their upbeat pop, rock sound to Dresden this weekend.

Dave Richie, guitarist for the band, said they are pumped to be opening up for Canadian rockers Sloan at the Kinstock Music Festival.

“The Kinsmen first approached us, it was probably last summer. They wanted to do Kinstock a little bigger this year and asked if we would be interested and we said for sure. More recently Sloan was added too, we were like ‘oh wow, that’s even better’,” Richie said.

“We thought this was going to be a cool event to begin with, but to add the end of the night headliner like that, it should be a big event hopefully for Dresden, and for all of Chatham-Kent.”

The band, who all hail from Chatham-Kent, consists of: Mat Drew, lead vocals/percussion/guitar; Richie, guitar/vocals; Brian McDonnell, bass/vocals; and Joe Carson on drums

Richie said they will be playing a jam-packed show at Kinstock.

“It is always interesting because we are used to playing three sets a night so over four hours,” he said.

“So I think we are playing for about an hour and a half, it’s kind of like the greatest hit set. We are not exactly sure what we are going to play yet but the fact that we can actually go through three hours of music and condense it into an hour and a half, you can expect it will be pretty high energy. It will probably be a nice mix of what everybody has come to expect from Face 4 Radio.”

Richie said the band is still flying high from playing the Grassy 2 Rock event on the waters of Mitchell’s Bay.

“It’s not every gig where it’s a ten minute boat ride to the stage,” he said.

“It was a great experience. We do a lot of outdoor shows obviously once the summer comes around but that was a completely different vibe.”

Richie added: “It’s always good to reach some different audiences. From what I gather there were a lot of people from the U.S. there. Everybody was having a good time, the weather was great… it was just one of those shows that you were glad you were a part of.”

Richie said he hopes to see the community support in Dresden this weekend.

“The summer time Chatham-Kent has a lot of stuff going on whether it inside Chatham or in small communities or out in the water. I hope the residents appreciate that and anyone who can make it out to Kinstock, I hope they get there.”

“It’s going to be really great. You are supporting local music, you are supporting local community groups which is really important. I just really hope that the community really gets behind this event.:
