On July 12, 2016 around 12:30 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a three vehicle “chain reaction” collision on Highway 401 near Dillon Road.
A number of vehicles were stopped in the eastbound lane, of the construction zone, behind a vehicle which was broken down.
An eastbound Tractor Trailer drove into the back of the last stopped vehicle causing this vehicle to strike the one in front.
In total, three vehicles sustained extensive damage.
One of the drivers sustained minor injuries but was not transported to hospital.
The 52-year-old transport driver was charged with “careless driving”, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
