Over 150 kids signed up for a fishing derby on Walpole Island on Saturday.
The event was hosted by the Walpole Island Community Program, which promotes and delivers substance abuse prevention programming through community and culture-based programs, events and activities.
Stacey Nahdee, one of the event organizers, said they had a good turn out for the annual event.
“There is different types of prizes for different categories,” he said.
“So we have the four different categories and they must be with their parent or caregiver/adult. They are all fishing from the shore. They cannot be in boats. They come back here to get their fish measured at 11:30 a.m.”
“It is just a lot of fun because you get to see a lot of smiling faces and how happy they are catching the fish.
