The Sarnia Police used technology to help locate a stolen vehicle from Lambton County.

Police officials say on July 19, at approximately 8:45 a.m. the Sarnia Police Service received information from OnStar Tracking that a vehicle reported stolen to the Ontario Provincial Police out of Lambton County had been tracked to a location in the 1300 block of London Road in the City of Sarnia.

Upon arriving on scene the vehicle was located but as the investigation continued it was observed that a piece of cinderblock had smashed the glass out of a man door to a local business.

From there, the thief stole a set of keys from a vehicle that belonged to the business parked in the lot and drove away.

Fortunately the Ontario Provincial Police had a suspect and via surveillance camera’s officers were able to confirm this information.

Road officers were made aware of the freshly stolen vehicle and who the suspect was.

At approximately 10 a.m. an officer was able to locate the stolen vehicle driving eastbound on Devine Street from Indian Road.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Currently a 15-year-old male from Lambton County has been remanded into custody and is facing charges for Break and Enter, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Flight from Police, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000, Drive Motor Vehicle With No Licence and four counts of Breaching Probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
