Madison Broad captures gold at nationals

Wallaceburg’s Madison Broad brought home another gold medal this weekend after competing in the 2016 Canadian Age Group Championships in Calgary.

In fact the 15-year-old Chatham Y Pool Sharks swimmer captured three medals in total.

Broad swam the 50 metre backstroke with a new best time of 28.72 at the event, which earned her a first place finish and the gold medal.

In the 100 metre backstroke, Broad recorded a time of 1:03.64, earning her a silver medal.

In the 200 metre backstroke, she finished with a time of 2:18.56, earning her another second place finish and another silver medal.

Broad also placed 13th in the 200 metre IM, 15th in the 50 metre breaststroke, and 26th inthe 50 metre fly.
