Charges laid after van flees crash scene

A Wallaceburg man faces a string of charges after allegedly fleeing from the scene of a crash on Friday.

Chatham-Kent OPP officials say on August 5, around 4:20 p.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 40 near Electric Line.

The driver of a northbound Harley Davidson Motorcycle was slowing down for a vehicle, which was turning onto Electric Line, when he was rear ended by a Pontiac Montana minivan.

The driver of the minivan continued driving northbound at a high rate of speed.

The minivan was located a short time later.

Neither driver reported injuries

As a result, the male driver, a 30-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with fail to stop at the scene of an accident and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
