Crash claims the life of a Dawn-Euphemia man

A Dawn-Euphemia man died after a crash over the weekend in Lambton County.

OPP officials say on Saturday August 6, just after 6 a.m., the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was dispatched to a serious single vehicle motor vehicle collision in the area of Lambton Line in Dawn-Euphemia Township.

Lambton OPP along with Lambton Emergency Medical Service (EMS) and Dawn-Euphemia Township Fire Department responded to a location on Lambton Line between Annett Road and Downie Road.

Upon arrival, responders observed a single motor vehicle in the north ditch which had sustained significant damage.

A lone male occupant was located inside the motor vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the motor vehicle has been identified as 47-year-old Michael Edward Hobbs of Dawn-Euphemia Township.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators were requested and attended the scene.

Lambton Line was closed between Annett Road and Downie Road until approximately 1 p.m.

Investigation determined that the Mustang the victim was operating was initially travelling westbound on Lambton Line when the vehicle veered off the roadway and entered into a deep ravine.

No charges will be laid in connection with this collision.
