Man sleeping on downtown Wallaceburg bench arrested

A suspicious person call in Wallaceburg led to an arrest early on Saturday morning.

Police officials say on August 6th at 2:15 a.m. the Chatham-Kent Police responded to James Street in Wallaceburg in regards to a suspicious person.

On arrival police observed a male party asleep on a park bench.

The sleeping male was known to police.

Upon further investigation police had learned the male had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for theft/Possession under $5,000 and failing to attend court.

The 35-year-old Wallaceburg male was awoken, arrested and transported to the Chatham-Kent Police Service and held for bail hearing.
