Van crashes into water-filled ditch outside Wallaceburg

Police have charged a Dover woman, after allegedly crashing her van into a ditch outside of Wallaceburg.

Police officials say this morning around 12:30 a.m. emergency crews responded to a single motor vehicle collision on W. Lewis Line just east of Malcolm Road.

The woman lost control of her minivan and came to rest in the water filled ditch.

Luckily, she was able to escape with only minor injuries.

A passerby observed the woman climbing out of the ditch and drove her to a residence in Mitchell’s Bay. Police were notified of the incident and attended the scene.

The 35-year-old Dover Centre woman was charged with careless driving and failing to report an accident. Total damage was estimated at $20,000.
