A group of men in Wallaceburg are looking for more players to join their 3-on-3 basketball league, which is slated to start this fall.
Nick Persyn, organizer, told the Sydenham Current the start date has yet to be determined, but it will tentatively run from October to March.
“Number of games per week will be determined by the quantity of players we get,” he said.
“It’s a men’s competitive league, but we all have fun.”
The games are played in the gymnasium at the Wallaceburg Kinsmen Centre on Dufferin Avenue.
The group of players, many alumni from the Wallaceburg District Secondary School basketball program, have been gathering once or twice a week for the past several years during the fall and winter months.
Persyn said high school players are welcome also.
“We never have issues with arguing or fights and we want to keep it that way,” he said.
“It’s just a fun league where us old guys can get out and run and the young guys can gain some experience to help them improve”
Persyn said cost is between $60-$80, with a shirt being provided.
“There are no refs, we call or own fouls,” he said, adding that the group ran a league two years ago with great success.
“Last time we had four teams, hoping to get a few more this time around, maybe some players that are new to the area.”
